43rd Eastern Open 2012

31 March - 19 May 2012

The prestigious Eastern Open Art Competition embraces its 43rd year, once again attracting entries from across 7 counties of the eastern region. Our eminent judges this year from the art world are: 20th Century Design Expert, TV presenter, author, and Applied Arts Patron of the King’s Lynn Arts Centre, Mark Hill, freelance curator and Director of Fermynwoods Contemporary Art, Yasmin Canvin, and Jessica Lack, who has been Arts Writer for The Guardian for 12 years and is also co-author of “Tate Guide to Modern Art Terms”. Together they will meticulously assess over 700 pieces of 2D and digital artworks awarding over £3,000 of over several categories including £2000 “Best in the Show.” Don’t miss this chance to view an exceptional selection of top artistic talent from the East.

We are indebted to our sponsors of the Eastern Open, particularly specialist carriage of works from our regional collection centres provided by Smiths Removals (http://www.smithsremovals.pcswebsites.co.uk/)

Congratulations on putting on a very interesting and varied exhibition. It is good to see amongst the contemporary art some skilled representation at last getting a look in. It would have been helpful if a list of prices and artists had been available at the opening from the outset as my party had to leave mid speeches. How about an award for most popular work chosen by the viewing public? It would get the public involved and have the "peoples choice" A good show all round and very well hung.
